Description

The Eastern Veil Nebula is a very much photographed object, so of course I had to include it in my gallery. This is a remnant of a massive star that exploded and left behind its heavy metals for another gas cloud to use to produce other star and planetary systems somewhere in our galaxy. This one was very close and so we can see a lot of filamentary detail from the explosion and shock waves that occured 8000 years ago. I used H-alpha , OIII and Hydrogen -beta and RGB filters to capture this. There are very few objects in our line of sight that contain this kind of detail. I used my spectral colouring technique to portray its true colour. I used the narrowband images for the Veil and RGB for the stars.
